Your daughter is all grown up now, barely in her teens.
Enthusiasm and attitude aside, her growth in the physical department
is all but apparent. She's beginning to grow breasts, making it the
right time to take her shopping. This is to make sure she'll have
fitting undergarments and won't be conscious about this normal
purchase. Here are a few things you can do to ease your daughter into
her new, bra-wearing self.
Explain to her that breasts come in all shapes and
sizes, so she should feel neither deprived nor too confident of what
she has. Your daughter has to know that breasts don't make a woman;
although, they should be cared for and valued through the right-sized
bra. Discuss cup sizes, brassiere colors, types, and materials as
factors in choosing comfortable undergarments.
Be honest about the fact that you don't need to wear a
bra for medical reasons. However, that doesn't mean this piece of
fabric is any less necessary especially if she places much premium on
modesty as a virtue. Underscore the essence of wearing the right bra
for the right occasion.
At the same time, don't impose your bra style taste and
standards upon your daughter. Make suggestions about the shade and
function of a particular type of brassiere, but let her choose what
she wants.
