Brassieres
are undergarments that should feel neither constricting nor too
loose. Women do not have to put up with ill-fitting bras, which is
why they are always advised to get proper chest measurements to
guarantee a perfect fit. It is also important for females to take
note of qualities that the right-size bra should not have:
Brassiere
straps should not fall down the shoulders, nor should they dig into
the skin. If the straps fall off several times in the hours the
brassiere is on, this means the underwear is not giving the proper
support. Ideally, a tenth of the weight of the breasts are supported
by the straps; the remaining 90 percent weight should be borne by the
brassiere’s bands.
An
undergarment should not cause back fat—that is, the lump that forms
below the bra band. If this is the case, the bands are too large. To
make sure that these bra parts are just the right size, try clasping
the bra at the closest hook and put two fingers underneath the back
bands and give it a stretch. If it’s a few inches too loose, or it
is too tight to adjust by the straps, the bra is not the right fit
for you.
